During my time Club Med, I was trained as Lighting and Sound Technician. It was a very big and busy job that was essential for the resorts.  I learned so much about myself and what I could do when it came to creating my own content. 

 

I had to not only plan itineraries for each event but I spent much time updating events. I had to learn how to stage events, and how to effectively set atmosphere using limited supplies. I made many sets and had to even think about how we could incorporate all new content into everyday use and for larger events. 

 

Our days were busy and as an example of the activities, i was often responsible for setting up these events during the course of the day.

 

Average day in  Animation Team

Set up for the first event starts at 10:30

11:30am - Aqua Gym

12:00pm - Event (Set up and DJ)

2:00pm - Coffee game

4:00pm - Live DJ or performance

7:00pm - Event ie live musician or live dj for everyone

7:00pm - Event special event

8:00pm - Mini club entertainment show

9:00pm - Dancefloor 

9:30pm - Main show

11:00pm - Special event

11:30pm - Nightclub

I enjoyed so much of taking an idea and working with my team to build something that our guests would talk about. I loved building content and setting the platform for encouraging my team to build upon each others skills. 

 

In Mauritius (La Pointe) I put together much of my own content and made new versions of some of the shows so I could have better sound quality and attach new video content. Such shows are music hits, movie factory, and Michael Jackson. I also had the opportunity to help produce new content for shows for the resort as well, not only did i work on the music mash-ups but I added video footage. 

 

I had the opportunity to help and assist in the development of some promotional material throughout the village. 

 

I also had to create much of my own content such as Coffee games (music and movie trivia), videos to set ambiance for cocktails and other events and I was also being trained in design and decoration for stage and other events. 

 

This position not only challenged me but I learned and picked up these skills;

 

Sound skills

- Live Concerts 

- Live theatre and improve theatres 

- Installation of equipment for nightclubs and event setups

- Equipment upkeep and maintenance 

- Sound editing and recording and production 

 

Lighting Skills

- Installation for events and performances 

- Theatre installation and nightclub 

- Trained in programming LED screens 

- Trained in GrandMA2 lighting software as well as manual DMX boards

- Can program and update shows though DMX programming for LED lights and Moving heads

- Familiar with projection mapping

 

Video 

- Familiar with video editing, adding special effects

- Started  making video mash-ups
